Kenny Scharf Mural in NYC
The latest mural at NYC's Houston & Bowery has just been completed. Designed by famed pop-artist Kenny Scharf, the colorful work features an array of tessellating characters. Whats crazy is that this was not sketched or planned beforehand...he created it right on the spot.

Mick Boogie Presents 93 'Til Infinity Mix
NYC-based Mick Boogie, known for his eclectic DJ sets and amazing mixtapes, is also an avid basketball fan and a video game junkie. With the recent return of the classic 90’s arcade game NBA JAM (now refreshed and remixed for 2010), Mick was inspired to put together a mixtape of classic and rare 90’s remixes that serve as the soundtrack to where we were back in the day. Being that NBA JAM dropped in 1993… Mick’s decision to call the mix “93 Til’ Infinity” was the only appropriate choice!
In addition to the mixtape, Mick collaborated with vintage t-shirt designers Homage to create a limited edition NBA JAM/93 Til Infinity inspired tee to celebrate the release of this mix and the videogame.
SIDENOTE: I had NBA Jam's for my SEGA Genesis back in the day, one of my favorite games...that was until it was stolen from me (Thanks to my sister Mary!)

Fall Begins in Trona, CA
Focusing on the small town of Trona, California, the documentary explores how the town football team is less about sport and more of an expression of survival.
THROUGH THE LENS is a series of interviews and film footage profiling directors who have collaborated with W+K at one time or another, with emphasis on their non-commercial work.
3 things I want to say about this piece;
1. Thank god I live in NYC
2. Does anyone believe the women when she says she's 'happy' (referring to 7 min mark)
3. Any story can be interesting if told correctly, in this case shot correctly.

"Born and raised in Queens, I've had the opportunity to experience the melting pot that is NYC and there's never a dull moment...As far as training, I went to school for graphic design for several years and enjoyed it very much. Upon starting grad school for graphic design I realized that my love for photography was even greater. My training in design has given me a unique outlook on my new found art. I gravitate toward color palettes and storytelling all while trying to create a compelling composition."

Influencers - Full Length
A few weeks back, I posted the preview for the short film 'INFLUENCERS' (http://johnny5ived.blogspot.com/2010/10/are-you-influencer.html) Well, here is the full length version. Enjoy.
Nina Sky - You Aint Got It
The homies Nina Sky dropped there EP The Other Side in August and not too long ago released their first video off the project, “You Aint Got It” directed by Treezy.
As per the twins "We wanted to shoot a video that was reminiscent of Sagat’s “Funk Dat’ video, which is the song we sampled for “You Ain’t Got It.” It was important to us that Treezy captured the same vibe and grainy look as the original video, so we shot half in the city streets with our friends. To contrast the street element and give a softer, more modern feel, we splashed it with colorful shots, some green screen action, and bam! “You Ain’t Got It” came to life."
