IBM 100 x 100

Where would we be without this company.  Check out this amazing promotional film for IBM to help celibrate their 100 year anniversary. What IBM has accomplished in the past 100 years is astonishing and the concept of this film — each presenter states a IMB achievement in the year they were born — is extremely impactful almost drawing your attention more to the people than the actual accomplishment.

Waste Land Movie

This here is amazing! Brooklyn artist Vik Muniz travels to the world's greatest landfill near Rio De Janeiro to photograph portraits of its workers and transform trash into art! This goes to show you that beauty can be found everywhere, you just gotta look for it.

SYNOPSIS
Filmed over nearly three years, WASTE LAND follows renowned artist Vik Muniz as he journeys from his home base in Brooklyn to his native Brazil and the world's largest garbage dump, Jardim Gramacho, located on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. There he photographs an eclectic band of “catadores”—self-designated pickers of recyclable materials. Muniz’s initial objective was to “paint” the catadores with garbage. However, his collaboration with these inspiring characters as they recreate photographic images of themselves out of garbage reveals both the dignity and despair of the catadores as they begin to re-imagine their lives. Director Lucy Walker (DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND, BLINDSIGHT, COUNTDOWN TO ZERO) has great access to the entire process and, in the end, offers stirring evidence of the transformative power of art and the alchemy of the human spirit.

Oliver Peoples 2011 Collection

This is an awesome ad. Beautifully shot and edited by Lisa Eisner.

Starring real life couple Devendra Banhart and Rebecca Schwartz, the premise of the Oliver Peoples 2011 campaign is an exploration of authentic intimacy and sexuality. The love affair is explored in the one-of-a-kind masterpiece by architect John Lautner: Rainbow House. The contemporary California setting proved to be a perfect atmosphere to showcase the natural chemistry of the young, intriguing couple.

Reverting to Type Exhibition

The lost art of letterpress. Damn I wish I could attend this exhibit. I love the fact that people are still doing things by hand and not via a program.  Much respect to those Wordsmiths!

Curated by Graham Bignell & Richard Ardagh, Reverting to Type features the efforts and work of 20 modern day letterpress practitioners from around the world. There’s no need to detail the demise of print, yet exhibitions like Reverting to Type continue the legacy and beauty of printed materials. The exhibition will conclude on January 22, 2011.

Undercity Film NYC

Urban dwellers Andrew Wonder and Steve Duncan engaged in some underground activities last year, deep under the city of New York. Offered above is their film, which captures the entire experience through sewers, freedom tunnels, and just about every other grimey aspect of the underground.

When I  first saw this video I said "let me watch a few minutes of this"...I found my self watching the entire thing. 1. I wanted to find out if they get caught 2. To see parts of NYC I and prob many of you have never seen let alone known about. These dudes have some **cking balls! Enjoy.
